How to Make a Mini Scrunchie and Bow
Author: StylizeIt·February 28, 2022
- 1/4" elastic (the length of your wrist)
- 3 pieces of fabric: scrunchie 1.75" x 20"; bow strip 3" x 20"; center piece 1.25" x 3"
- fabric turner
- elastic threader or safety pin
- scissors
- sewing machine
- thread
- hand sewing needle
Sew a Tube and Insert Elastic
Fold your scrunchie fabric wrong side out. Sew a straight stitch on one of the ends and along the length of the fabric. Use a fabric turner to flip the fabric right side out, and cut the closed end. Insert the elastic through the tube with the elastic threader or safety pin.
Join Elastic and Close the Fabric Opening
Once the ends of the elastic meet, overlap and sew them together. Fold the edges of the fabric toward the wrong side and seal the opening with a hand stitch.
Create a Strip for the Bow
Fold the fabric for the bow wrong side out, and sew like shown on the second image leaving an opening in the center. Cut the excessive fabric along the edges, and turn the strip right side out. You can now press it.Create the Fabric Bow
Cross the strip evenly until you create your desired bow and stitch the center to keep it in place. Create the center piece for the bow by folding and pressing the long edges toward the wrong side of the fabric. Fold the center piece in half and hand stitch it to the bow.
Attach the Bow to the Scrunchie
Now, you can finish your project by sewing the bow to the scrunchie!
